A Feminist Perspective on the Torah at Rabbi Ayla's.
- Hidden and Revealed: From Shushan to Scottsdale - A pre-Purim workshop/playshop with
Rabbi Leah Novick for exploring our personal patterns of relating to our Judaism using the
archetypes from the Purim story as a starting point. We will study some of the Midrash
that illuminates the central characters and focus on the connection to our contemporary
challenges. For example: Why does Esther marry the non-Jewish guy? Do our communities
recognize saintly leadership? Would we heed Queen Esther's call to fast for three days?
Why did Ahaseurus trip over his own sex life? Is there a message for Washington here? Who
are Mordecai and Haman in your life? Do we believe that Jews will always be the victims?
How do we relate to being the aggressors?
