Wedding Blessings: The Sheva Berachot

Richie and Chana Andler

This is a slightly poetic, Jewish Renewal re-working of the traditional wedding blessings, which invokes the energy of the 7 lower sephirot in the G*d names used.

Blessed are You, Source of All Compassion, who creates the fruit of the vine for our joy and sanctification.

Blessed are You, Source of All Discretion, who manifests the world in radiant glory.

Blessed are You, Source of All Harmony, who brings forth human beings on the earth.

Blessed are You, Source of All Constancy, who fashions woman for man and man for woman and infuses both with divine light.

Blessed are You, Source of All Splendor, for delivering Your children from exile and estrangement, alienation and aloneness.

Gladden this bride and groom and form them into perfectly loving companions, just as You made Adam and Havah in the Garden of Delight. Blessed are You, Source of All Being, for bestowing lasting joy on bride and groom.

Blessed are You, Shekinah, for creating joy and gladness, bride and groom, rejoicing and song, exultation and elation, love and friendship, peace and companionship. May we all behold the day when the sounds of joy fill the streets of Jerusalem and echo throughout the world, as the delight of bride and groom resound across the earth, wrapping it in perfect peace. Blessed is love, blessed be this marriage, and blessed is the One who delights in the union of husband and wife and the healing of the world.
